Performer Bios:
We are pleased to announce that the following sceners will be performing at the party!
Don Miller performs live visuals in real time under the alias NO CARRIER. He works with nearly obsolete repurposed electronics to create high energy low resolution abstract video. Part of the 8bitpeoples artist collective, he performs, exhibits, and lectures worldwide. Miller is based in Philadelphia, where he organizes and curates 8static, a monthly showcase of low-bit music and visuals.
Joey Mariano and his music are one portion of the chip music schematic. The capacitance of his creations range from genre connections to genre transformers and are not limited to the common rules and regulations associated with normal sound organization. Mariano is know for bringing a heavily improvised approach to chip music with his Gameboy Foot controller + the 8bit fuzz pedal. Currently he is working with the Sega Genesis, and producing NES cartridge albums with No Carrier. Constantly seeking new modes and formulas for music, Mariano places his unique musical chemistry under the alias Animalstyle.
OxygenStar creates music by all means necessary. His live sets can include drums, various electronics, the original Nintendo Entertainment System, old 90's MS-DOS computers, guitars, keyboards, a gigantic muppet afro, all of the above, none of the above, you name it. A star of the insular chiptune community "chipmusic.org," his latest release "Thy Name is Adventure" is available on Cassette and digital download.
Coda is a freelance game composer and active member of the "tracker scene." Drawing inspiration from videogames, progressive metal, and jazz fusion, his music can be heard on acclaimed compilation albums such as Autumntunes, and in various demoscene productions and competitions. Coda has been described as "the best and brightest in the scene," and "a rising chiptune star."
cTrix is an Australian composer who has been writing Amiga tunes since 1992. In 1997 he migrated to a live sequencing workstation and started playing live sets on radio and at rave parties around Melbourne. One fateful afternoon his trusty hardware refused to boot (corrupted MC505) so he brushed the dust off his tracking software and has never looked back. With a phat and funky breaks/house style, his tunes are played directly from the outputs of a Commodore Amiga 500 into a mixer and stright into the speakers to form a RAW in-your-face sound. Expect oldskool 90's vokal rave, buzzing glitched-breaks, jungle D'n'B, banging psytrance crossed with metal and a few ST-xx samples thrown in for good measure.
Other activities: Stargazing, DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park Visit
The lawn at the hostel is excellent for stargazing. Perhaps some time gazing up with star maps will pique folks' interest . . . We are also considering doing a group trip to the deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park on Sunday afternoon after we leave the site if there is sufficient interest (you only need about three to four hours to see the whole museum). As certain members of the scene who have seen it ;) can testify, it is cool. One onlookerswore he saw this in an mfx demo.
